Convention Speakers

George Phillies – libertarian activist, former candidate for Congress in Massachusetts, and candidate for the 2008 LP Presidential nomination. George is Treasurer and former Chair of his Party State Committee and has been active in the American Civil Liberties Union. He edits and publishes the newsletter Liberty for America.

Stephen Vasquez – NY State Coordinator of Campaign for Liberty. Steve was a 2008 candidate for Congress in the Capital District who was endorsed by Ron Paul. He has networked with leaders of other organizations and is a recognized presence by those from across the political spectrum.

Bob Ward – Deputy Director of the Nelson Rockefeller Institute of Government, a public policy think tank of the State University of New York and author of New York State Government. He is a former newspaper and editor and has studied and written extensively about the workings of our state government.

Eric Sundwall – libertarian activist and former candidate for Congress, state chair, national committee alternate, host and producer of Capital Outsider.

• 9:00 am – Guest speakers (2)
• 10:30 am – Presentations by candidates for state wide public office and candidates for party positions.
• Noon – Buffet lunch with guest speaker
• 1:00 pm Business session
  • Selection of party officers:
    • Chair
    • 2 vice chairs
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer
    • 5 at large members of the state committee
  • Selection of candidates for public office
    • Governor, Lt Governor
    • State Comptroller
    • Attorney General
    • 2 US Senate candidates, 1 for a term of 2 years, and 1 for a term of six years.
  • At the discretion of the chair, regional reports and special presentations may be placed on the agenda so as to fill the space that frequently occur between ballots.
• 6:00 pm – Dinner with guest speaker, presentation of statewide candidates and fund raising for the candidates and petition drive, as well as a few surprises.
